Understanding Research

Click the Research icon in the Colony Information Menu or by selecting a Workshop. See Game User Interface.

Research allows you to unlock more advanced buildings, enhance existing technologies and reveal new transportation systems in the game.

Research is carried out at Workshops by Researchbots who require Energy and additional resources depending on the particular research. More advanced research requires upgraded Workshops and higher level Energy, which are obtained from upgraded Residences.

Buildings may require research to be completed before they can be placed and constructed. The requirements section at the bottom of each building window will identify what research, if any, is needed and whether it has been unlocked/researched.

DCL New Lands adds additional research paths.

Hotkeys

Pressing T will open the Technology Research Overview Panel.
