How It Works

Building Rules can be crucial for managing the flow of resources around your colony. The objective of using rules is to manage efficiency and building construction and production times. It can also play a role in keeping roads and other transport routes less congested.

You can also restrict resource movement by using Transport Rules.

Rule Types

There are different types of rules that can be applied:

- Construction Import Whitelist - Limit which buildings can send resources for construction.
- Production Export Whitelist - Limit which buildings can receive resources produced by this building.
- Production Import Whitelist - Limit which buildings can send resources to be used by this building for its production.
Note: Be sure that Import Whitelists include sources for all types of resource needed.

Hotkeys

Use C + click on a building for copying the building's export and import rules.

Use V + click on a building for pasting the building's export and import rules.

Hold [Shift] when adding Whitelist/Blacklist buildings to keep panel open.

Example

Here is a simple example of using a building Production Import Whitelist to allow the Surface Mine to only get Energy 1 from a Residence. Use the [+] to add more Residences to the Production Import Whitelist. In this case, it might be best to add two Residences to meet the demands of the Surface Mine. Unless the Residences have their own Production Export Whitelist pointing to the Surface Mine, the Energy 1 produced by these Residences may go to buildings with existing demand or that have a priority set on them.
