Buildings are where your colonists create and produce resources. Each building has at least one stackbot who drops offs and collects resources to and from road posts.

Buildings produce resources that often support other buildings so placing them as close as possible will help with overall efficiency of your colony. For example to the right, an Iron Shaft Mine is supplying the Blast Furnace which in turn is supplying the Blacksmith which in turn is supplying the L2 Workshop. Using Storage Yards can help manage other needed resources.

You can also add Building Rules to increase the efficiency of your colony.
